The package includes roundtrip airfare on a major carrier (Delta, American, Continental) and a four-night stay at the grand, recently renovated 591-room Fairmont Hotel atop Nob Hill. The panoramic city views are spectacular, and marble Corinthian columns, vaulted ceilings, velvet chairs, gilded mirrors, and a wraparound staircase grace the lobby. More funky than is typical of the Fairmont, its not-to-be-missed Tonga Room is a deliciously kitschy tiki bar and restaurant in a tropical rainforest setting. Travelers can extend their stay for an additional $129 per person per night.

Also included, a three-and-a-half-hour bus tour of the city covers: the Civic Center, Opera House, Old Mission Dolores, Twin Peeks for a view of the city, Japanese Tea Garden, Cliff House Presideo, and a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge to Vista Point.

Roundtrip airfare alone to San Francisco in early February is currently $197 (ATA) per person from Chicago, $190 (Continental) from Kansas City, $266 (American) from Nashville, and $244 (Northwest) from Minneapolis.
