Sceptre Tours Adds Scotland for $349
After 25 years of specializing exclusively in Ireland-based vacations, Sceptre Tours branched out to Scotland last month. "Interest in Scotland has grown to where we can't ignore it anymore," says Chris Accomando, president of Sceptre Tours. "It's a similar destination to Ireland, and a logical progression." Expanding to Scotland is just the first step for the family-owned company, which plans to sell trips to all of the U.K. by the end of the year. The new Scotland vacation roster includes city stays in Edinburgh and Glasgow, fully escorted tours, customizable golf packages, and itineraries that jump between Ireland and Scotland. Sceptre's Tartan package, the Scottish equivalent of the company's popular Ireland Emerald trip, costs $349 and includes a seven-day standard-car rental with unlimited mileage, one night at the Jurys Inn in Glasgow, five nights' worth of vouchers valid at nearly 400 B&Bs in Scotland, and breakfast daily. When Until March 31. Details This price does not cover international airfare. Extra nights from $70. Single supplement $100. Spend the first night in Edinburgh instead of Glasgow for an extra $20. Skip the Museum Line in Paris for $161
The Musée du Quai Branly--the only new major museum to open in Paris in the last 20 years--is at the foot of the Eiffel Tower on the banks of the Seine. Designed by well-known French architect Jean Nouvel, it's a series of low-lying buildings connected by walkways in the midst of 194,000 square feet of gardens, including some 15,000 plants embedded in an exterior facade. What's inside--art from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas--is equally impressive. The Musée du Quai Branly opened to great fanfare in June and expects more than a million visitors in its first year. Sofitel, the French-owned hotel chain, recently partnered with the museum to create a package that lets guests skip the inevitable lines. (Museum-hotel packages are something of a company specialty; it worked with the Musée du Luxembourg during its 2005 Matisse exhibition.) This Quai Branly deal combines one night at any of Sofitel's 13 hotels in Paris, breakfast, two VIP tickets to the museum, and two audio guides for $161 (based on double occupancy). When Until Dec. 31. Details Price does not include airfare. Extra nights from $180. Single supplement from $30. Contact Sofitel, 800/763-4835, sofitel.com.
