The Montreal Tourism Board's Sweet Deal package offers hotel stays from $109 for the first night, with 50 percent off the second night (from $54.50). The board has also thrown in a handful of amenities: Cucina hand soap from Fruits & Passion, two Passport Privilèges coupons for Casino de Montréal (valued at $35), a discount card and gift with a purchase of $75 or more at sh3opping, three connected shopping centers, and a copy of the events guide, à la Montréal.

The 21 participating properties run from the modest Quality Inn Downtown (from $109 for the first night) to the high-end Hotel InterContinental Montreal (from $180 for the first night). If you stay four nights, you'll pay full price for the third night and then get 50 percent off the fourth night's stay as well. For example, you could spend four nights at the upscale boutique Hôtel St.-Paul for a total of $570 per room or at the Holiday Inn Select Montréal Centre-Ville, with buffet breakfast, for $408. Some hotels even provide a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room. For a complete rundown, visit tourisme-montreal.org.

Getting There: The lowest round-trip fares we've found to Montreal in mid-November are: $317 from New York City (American); $369 from Chicago (U.S. Airways); $375 from Atlanta (Northwest); $391 from Washington, D.C. (U.S. Airways); and $407 from Houston (U.S. Airways).
