After moving from New York City to San Francisco, Andre and Mara Bosch were more than ready for a vacation.
As soon as they both had a week to spare, they went big: Australia. "We plan our trips around food," says Mara. "I love finding out what people like eating wherever we go."

We introduced the couple to Alex Herbert, chef-owner of Bird Cow Fish, a Sydney restaurant that's getting foodie buzz all around the world. The three of them shopped for ingredients at nearby Fratelli Fresh, then returned to the restaurant for a cheese tasting run by one of the restaurant's suppliers, followed by a lunch of gnocchi with tiger prawns, skirt steak, and a strawberry-rhubarb tart.
Sommelier Howard Gardner--who is also Alex's husband--paired local vintages with each of the courses, and he even popped a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the occasion.
